We’re all getting older…

Just a further little note to say some things that I am seeing a lot of faulty standard parts recently… :

– newage coilpacks. These were previously bullet proof and although they are still better than the aftermarket Red ones they are getting old and have seen quite a few go recently.

– std fuel pressure regulators. Again previously very reliable but some showing signs of sticking and causing problems in slow starting.

crank sensors. Weirdly a lot of these going awry too. Often cause a misfire at high rpm.

– standard vac hoses. These are getting brittle as fook now. A good silicone hose replacement is worthwhile but if you are replacing from the turbo to the boost solenoid don’t forget to make sure to re-insert the restrictor pill 👍

– earthing points. Most electrical running problems are caused by bad earth’s. Well worth cleaning up std earth points from rust before adding the monstrous earthing kits that some will sell you.

– pcv valves getting clogged.. Lots of weird running side effects

We sometimes forget how old our cars are now, a newage is 20 yrs old and needs quite a bit of love. Some classic are 30 yrs old and need even more.

Anything else I should add to this list?
